SLIP LEAD LESSON ONE
This being Day 1, EXPECT pressure on the slip lead. This means THE DOG is the ONLY one putting pressure on the slip lead when they walk to the end of the lead. NO CORRECTIONS THROUGH THE LEASH!
When they get to the end of the Lead, we change direction. We will be changing direction ALOT. Moving targets are hard to hit as far as jumping and nipping. Keep your feet moving, DO NOT FIGHT THE DOG!
Today's lesson is all about abstract turns and direction changes. We will be doing lots of U-Turns and BIG Figure 8's.
Directional Changes:
If the dog is FRONT LEFT, TURN RIGHT
If the dog is REAR LEFT, TURN LEFT
If the dog is FRONT RIGHT, TURN RIGHT
If the dog is REAR RIGHT, TURN LEFT
If the dog has wrapped the leash around you at all unravel yourself and START OVER.
